What is shortfill?
Shortfill is the new concept that emerged on 1 January 2018, when the new law prohibited retailers from selling e-juice with nicotine in quantities over 10ml. A shortfill bottle is not filled all the way to the top so that there is room to mix in your own nicotine. The concept means that you instead buy completely nicotine-free e-juice and then purchase and add what is known as a nic shot.
Nic shots contain nicotine, which you add to your e-juice yourself. This is also called Shake n Vape, and it is a convenient solution for those who want to add nicotine to their e-juice. The most common shortfills are filled to 50ml and 40ml. A 50ml shortfill e-juice is called 3mg Ready, and a 40ml e-juice is called 6mg Ready. It may feel overwhelming as a new vaper to start experimenting with your e-juice straight away, but it is really a simple process for new vapers to mix in their own nicotine.

Do shortfill e-liquids taste different?
The answer is no. The creators of their e-liquids use the same flavours and ingredients to create their e-juices; they have only skipped mixing their e-liquid with nicotine. However, keep in mind that the more nic shots you pour in, the more your e-juice is diluted and may lose flavour, especially if you mix your own e-juice and mix it in small quantities.
Pre-mixed 10ml Premium E-liquids with or without nicotine
It is also possible to buy pre-mixed 10ml premium e-liquids with or without nicotine. With this concept, you can buy 30ml of e-juice in 10ml x 3 bottles. Both Zap and Riot Squad have created this concept, and it is also a convenient way to buy e-juice in larger quantities with nicotine.
How has the new TPD law affected Europe?
The new TPD law has affected many countries and e-juice suppliers in Europe. Looking at the United Kingdom, the electronic cigarette and e-liquid market came to a standstill for approximately six months when the new law came into effect, but the market in the United Kingdom has since recovered and is back at the same level as before, helping people towards a life without tobacco cigarettes.
