How will the new nicotine tax affect you?
With the new decision from the Swedish Parliament on 30/5 2018, it has been decided that an excise tax will be introduced on e-juices containing nicotine. The law applies to e-liquids that are 10ml and contain 3, 6, 12 or 18mg nicotine strength. This law only applies within Sweden.
The tax is charged at 2 kronor per ml of e-liquid. This means that a 10-millilitre bottle containing nicotine will increase in price by 20kr plus VAT of 5 kronor.
When will the new law on nicotine tax come into effect?
The law will come into effect on 1 July, and it is only then that we will introduce a price change in our stores and online shop.
Prices on e-liquids that will be updated are:
Pura Lite (29kr) – 54kr incl. VAT
Innovation (39kr) – 64kr incl. VAT
247 Liquids (39kr) – 64kr incl. VAT
LiQua Original (39kr) – 64kr incl. VAT
LiQua Mix (49kr) – 74kr incl. VAT
XEO (49kr) – 74kr incl. VAT
EQ refill cartridges (99kr) – 109kr incl. VAT
How much may I import for personal use from abroad?
You may only bring a maximum of 20 millilitres of e-liquid and 200 grams of other nicotine-containing products per person and occasion if they are intended for the person in question or the family’s personal use.
This law does not affect shortfill bottles…
The new nicotine law will not affect shortfill bottles since they are completely nicotine-free, but it does affect nicshots since they contain nicotine, so nicshots will also become a few kronor more expensive. However, the actual shortfill concept is still cheaper than non-TPD-approved bottles that are already premixed with nicotine.
