How long an e-juice lasts is a common question we receive from our customers. The purpose of this post is to answer precisely that question - How long does an e-juice last?
It is actually a difficult question to answer and provide an exact answer to, as we all vape different amounts and use different vaping styles such as MTL, DTL and RDA, but as a rough estimate, you can take a look at the table below, which describes how long an e-liquid lasts.
If you are undecided about whether to switch from tobacco cigarettes to e-cigarettes, the table also shows how many cigarette packs an e-liquid corresponds to.
| Volume (ml) | 10ml | 50ml | 100ml |
| Lasts | approx. 5 days | approx. 2 weeks | approx. 4 weeks |
| Equivalent cigarette packs | approx. 5 packs | approx. 10 packs | approx. 20 packs |
NOTE! The table is an estimate; everything depends on how much you vape and which e-cigarette you use, so this may mean that the e-juice lasts longer or shorter than indicated in the table
As mentioned, it depends on how much you use your e-cigarette, but also on what type of electronic cigarette you have. As a rule, an MTL e-cigarette consumes less e-liquid compared to a DTL e-cigarette.
The vaping style that vaporizes the most e-liquid per inhalation is RDA, which is used at very high power levels, usually above 100+ watts. This vaping style belongs to the DTL vaping category.
Do you want to reduce your e-juice consumption?
If you feel that you are vaporizing too much e-liquid for your own good, our recommendation is that you get an MTL (mouth-to-lung) e-cigarette, as these are used at low power levels (usually 10-30 watts) and do not vaporize as much e-liquid with each inhalation compared to DTL vaping.
There are plenty of different mouth-to-lung e-cigarettes, so if you are looking for an MTL e-cigarette, you can take a look at our range of such electronic cigarettes via the link below. You will also find e-liquid adapted for these electronic cigarettes.
If MTL vaping does not suit you, you can instead buy an e-liquid with a higher VG content, as e-liquids with a high VG content are more viscous and vaporize more slowly. By vaping e-liquids with a higher VG content, you reduce your e-juice consumption and it lasts longer. Note that e-cigarettes with low power may have difficulty vaporizing e-liquids with a high VG content.
E-juice shelf life
If you bought your e-liquid from a reputable e-cig shop, you should always find a best-before date somewhere on the bottle. It is usually printed on the bottom of the bottle.
We constantly see new lines of shortfills and flavors from new, established & returning brands on the market. Creative and groundbreaking flavor profiles find their way through the ever-growing e-cigarette market, and at cigge we try to keep our range constantly updated. We receive requests from customers for specific flavors and lines, which we try to fulfill as best we can. The upside of this is that we make these customers happy; the downside can sometimes be that we have e-liquids that have reached, or are close to reaching, their "best-before date" before we have managed to sell them out.
In our range, you will sometimes find shortfills & e-juice with short dates. We understand that this raises concerns and questions among our customers. There are some questions about this that we will try to answer here in the text:
What happens to e-juice that has passed its expiry date?
First and foremost, vape juice consists of a variety of different ingredients that vary from product to product, making it difficult to provide a general explanation of what happens when your e-juice has passed its expiry date. It should be kept in mind that the "best-before date" is only a guideline and is often set well in advance for the consumer. In other words, you should be absolutely certain that nothing has changed in the product. Another factor is that the person who sold you the product wants you to buy more, of course. E-juice containing nicotine will darken over time and become increasingly brown. It is the nicotine in the e-juice that undergoes a chemical reaction and reacts with oxide (oxygen). Nicotine quickly deteriorates and loses strength. We do not sell products with short dates that contain nicotine.
Products without nicotine, in this case shortfills, are a different matter. Their flavor gradually deteriorates over time, but they are completely harmless to the consumer. It also varies depending on the flavor profile of the shortfill; how quickly it changes varies from flavor to flavor. Therefore, we have chosen to allow you as a customer to buy inexpensive shortfills with short dates through our outlet
