Guide: How to fill an e-cigarette?
This guide explains how to fill an electronic cigarette with e-liquid. The text covers how an e-cigarette is constructed, what is important to consider when refilling, and the different methods used.
How an e-cigarette is constructed
An electronic cigarette usually consists of several parts: battery (mod), e-liquid reservoir (tank or pod), and a coil that vaporizes the e-liquid. The e-liquid reservoir contains cotton that absorbs the liquid and supplies the coil with e-liquid. The battery supplies power to the coil so that the e-liquid can be vaporized.

Things to consider when refilling
When refilling an e-liquid reservoir, it is important not to fill it completely. It is generally recommended that the reservoir be filled to approximately 70–80%, since a certain amount of air is needed in the tank. If the reservoir is filled completely, there is a risk that the liquid will seep through the coil and cause leakage.
NOTE! If you are testing a new e-liquid, you can fill it with a smaller amount. However, it is important that the coil always receives enough liquid; otherwise, it may be damaged and need to be replaced.
Different filling methods
There are different methods for refilling an e-cigarette. The most common are:
Topfill
Refilling is done from the top of the tank. Unscrew the top cap and fill the liquid into one of the side channels. It is important not to pour the liquid into the center tube.
Sidefill
Refilling is done through an opening on the side of the tank, often covered by a rubber flap. The liquid is poured through the opening until the reservoir is filled to approximately 70–80%.
Bottomfill
Refilling is done from the underside of the tank. To do this, you need to unscrew the bottom to access the e-liquid reservoir. This method also allows you to clean the tank at the same time.

All electronic cigarettes have some form of e-liquid reservoir. It can be a tank that is filled manually or a pre-filled pod. Pods are sealed containers that are inserted into the device and replaced when they are empty. There are also more advanced systems that require knowledge of refilling and handling.

How to fill e-liquid
Here is how to fill e-liquid into an e-cigarette:
- If the tank has adjustable airflow, close it before refilling.
- Unscrew the top or bottom of the e-liquid reservoir.
- Pour the e-liquid into the side channel, not into the center tube.
- Fill to approximately 70–80% of the reservoir's capacity.
- Let the coil absorb the liquid for 10–15 minutes before use.
- Reassemble the tank and check that it is properly sealed.
NOTE! If the airflow is located at the bottom of a topfill tank, it is especially important to close the airflow when refilling.
