How do I change the coil on a vape? Here’s the information!

If you are a new user of electronic cigarettes and it is your first time changing a coil, replacing your coil with a new vaporizer may seem tricky. In this post, we will go through how to change a coil and when it is recommended to replace your coil with a new one. We will begin by briefly explaining what a vaporizer is.

What is a coil?

There are many names for a coil, such as burner, heating element, or vaporizer; you can decide which term suits you best. Even though a coil is sometimes called a burner, it is important to know that a coil does not burn anything but only vaporizes, so it is somewhat amusing that the term "burner" has become established in vaping communities.

Returning to what a coil is, its task is to vaporize the e-juice so that vapor can be sent out through the mouthpiece and create a flavorful cloud. A coil can look different in different devices, but they all have the same properties, and there are usually different resistance levels in ohms available for the coils belonging to the e-cigarette, allowing the user to vary their vaping experience.

When should I change the coil in my e-cigarette?

We usually recommend to our customers that they replace the coil after 1–2 weeks of vaping, but this varies from person to person since we all vape different amounts. As a general guideline, replace it after one to two weeks of vaping or when you notice a reduction in flavor production. You should also replace your coil if it starts leaking or if it tastes burnt.

We have created a blog post with tips on what you can do to avoid burning your coil and experiencing a burnt taste, such as how to prime your coil before using the e-cigarette. Read more here

How do I change the coil on a vape?

Changing the coil on your vape is very easy and does not require a degree in rocket science. However, the process differs from one e-cigarette to another because the designs vary, but by looking at a few examples of the electronic cigarettes we sell in our range, you can get a better understanding of how it works.

We can take one of our most popular e-cigarettes and explain how to change the coil on that particular e-cigarette:

This e-cigarette is practically made for the new vaper. It is very easy to change the coil on because it is an "All in One" e-cigarette. This means that everything is built into one unit, so the liquid reservoir is located inside the e-cigarette itself. We have drawn a diagram of all the removable parts of the e-cigarette so that you can easily see all the components.

With this e-cigarette, you only need to unscrew the top to access the liquid reservoir where the coil is installed. We recommend pouring out the e-liquid in the reservoir and cleaning the tank while you have the top unscrewed. Would you like to read more about how to clean your e-cigarette? Click here

Once you have poured out the e-liquid, you only need to loosen the old coil, take out the new one, and install it. One tip is to screw the coil back and forth so that you can feel it catching the threads. If the coil is threaded incorrectly, the e-cigarette may start leaking liquid.

There are advanced electronic cigarettes where you need to unscrew the tank from the e-cigarette. These e-cigarette tanks have a different construction than ordinary "AIO" tanks, but the principle is the same: you unscrew the top and, in most cases, remove the glass and the O-ring that seals the tank and prevents e-liquid from leaking. Then you simply screw in the new coil and put all the parts back as they were.

NOTE! Once you have installed a new coil, we strongly recommend that you either "prime" your coil or fill the tank with e-liquid and let the e-cigarette sit for at least 10–15 minutes so that the coil has time to absorb the e-liquid.

We hope that this post has answered your questions and concerns and helped you so that you can now replace the coil in your vape. If you have any further questions, you can contact us by phone or email—we are always here for you!
